Font auto-matching

Draw a Whiteout over existing text and we detect its style, pre-selecting a similar font for your new text box.

Built-in demo

A short animated walkthrough shows exactly how to swap out text the moment your PDF loads.

Draw or upload a signature

Sign with your mouse or finger, or upload a photo — background removes automatically.

Highlight & whiteout

Mark important lines with a highlighter, or cover text you want gone with a clean white block.

Vector-quality export

We edit your PDF's real pages, not a screenshot — text stays crisp and file size stays small.

Stays on your device

Your PDF and signature are processed locally in your browser — nothing is ever uploaded.

Edit PDF: whiteout, retype, sign — with fonts that fit

PDFs don't store text the way a word processor does, so no editor — free or paid — can truly "click and retype" without some form of cover-and-replace underneath. Our Edit PDF tool makes that workflow as smooth as possible: cover the old text with Whiteout, drop a new text box on top, and pick a font close to the original from a large list — or let it get auto-suggested for you.

How the font matching works

When you draw a Whiteout box over part of a page, the tool quietly checks what font style the covered text was using — serif like Times New Roman, sans-serif like Arial, or monospace like Courier — along with whether it looked bold. The font dropdown for your next text box updates automatically to the closest match, so you're not stuck guessing which of a dozen fonts looks right.

Frequently asked questions

Can I directly edit the existing text inside my PDF?Not the original text itself — PDFs don't store text as an editable document the way Word does. Cover the old text with Whiteout and place a new Text box with the correct wording on top.
How accurate is the font matching? It detects the general style — serif, sans-serif or monospace, plus bold — and suggests the closest match from the font list. It won't be a pixel-perfect match to the original typeface, but it gets the look in the right family.
Can I still pick a font manually?Yes — the font dropdown is always yours to change, whether or not auto-matching suggested something.
Will my signature have a see-through background if I draw it?Yes — the drawing pad has no background fill, so only your strokes are saved.
Why does this look sharper than other free PDF editors? We add your text, signature and highlights directly onto the PDF's real page content instead of flattening every page into one image, so existing text stays exactly as crisp as the original.
Is my document and signature safe?Yes — everything, including the font detection and background removal, happens locally in your browser. Nothing is ever uploaded to a server.
Can I edit every page of a multi-page PDF?Yes, use the Prev/Next buttons to move between pages — each page keeps its own set of edits.
