Remove image backgrounds and choose your own
Most background removers stop at a transparent cutout and leave the rest to you. This background remover goes one step further: once the subject is cut out, you can drop it onto red, blue, white or any custom color — or a gradient — and download the finished image straight away. Everything runs in your browser, so the photo you choose never leaves your device.
How to remove a background
- Choose an image — drag one in, click to browse, or paste it with Ctrl+V.
- Pick a quality — Fast, Balanced or Best, plus a working size for very large photos.
- Click Remove Background — the first run downloads the AI model, then the cutout is generated.
- Choose a background — transparent, a preset color, your own color or a gradient.
- Download — as PNG, JPG or WEBP.

Tips for the cleanest cutout
- Use a well-lit photo where the subject clearly stands apart from the background.
- Choose "Best" quality for fine details like hair, fur or thin edges.
- For very large photos, "Balanced" size is usually plenty and much faster.
- Need to place the result on a colored background? Download as PNG to keep it transparent, or JPG/WEBP to bake the color in.
Frequently asked questions
Is my image uploaded anywhere? No. The AI model runs inside your browser, so your photo stays on your device. The only download is the model itself, fetched once and then cached by your browser.
Why is the first run slower? On first use the AI model has to be downloaded before it can run. After that your browser keeps it, so the next images start much faster.
How well does it handle hair and fine edges? It handles most photos well, especially with the Best quality setting. Very busy backgrounds, low-contrast edges or motion blur can still leave small imperfections.
What is the "working size" option?Very large photos use a lot of memory. Resizing to a sensible size before processing keeps things fast and avoids browser crashes; the result is exported at that working size.
Which format should I download?PNG keeps transparency. JPG and WEBP flatten the image onto the background you selected — a transparent background becomes white in JPG.
Does it work on my phone?Yes, on modern phones — but large images and the Best quality setting need more memory, so Balanced is the safer choice on mobile.
Is there a limit on how many images I can process? No daily limit. Processing one at a time works best on most devices.
